Liposuction (Fat Removal)
If your weight is more or less within the normal bounds dictated by your age and height but you are continually plagued by isolated areas of fat that simply won’t budge, resulting in an overall body shape that isn’t in proportion, you are more than likely a very good candidate for Liposuction (also known as Lipoplasty.)
This procedure can be effective for men and women of all ages with relatively small fat deposits in most regions of the body. The areas of your arms (upper), back, breasts, cheeks, legs (calves, ankles, thighs and inner knees), neck and waist can all undergo Liposuction in addition to your tummy and hip areas. What’s more a variety of areas can be attended to during the same procedure.
As with most surgical procedures surgeons have differing opinions when it comes to which is the best method of Liposuction.
Although Liposuction can be performed under local anaesthetic generally speaking surgeons prefer the patient to undergo a general anaesthetic ¬ mainly for the patient's overall comfort.
Normally the unwanted body fat is vacuumed from the body by means of a tube called a Cannula that is in turn connected to a high pressure suctioning unit. The Cannula is inserted into the body through various incisions made in the area to be treated and guided through the suctioning process by your surgeon’s experienced hands. The incisions should be so small and well positioned as to render them inconspicuous after surgery.
In order to help perfect the final result you will be expected to wear a pressure garment for about six weeks following surgery.
